City Police to Build Security Post in Monas
Reported by Rio Sandiputra | Translated by Rini Elvira
As a form of support to Jakarta Provincial Government in sterilizing Monas, Central Jakarta, from street vendors and thugs who kept making the visitors restless, the City Police will build a security post in that area.
Security officers will go on patrol at least every 30 minutes, whether on foot or riding golf car or bicycles. Thus, the visitors would feel safer and more comfortable
“The post does not necessarily permanent one. It could be a tent or vehicle put in there. The security is a joint with Satpol PP, Monas’ internal security forces, TNI, and the police. Later, the security officers will go on patrol at least every 30 minutes, whether on foot or riding golf car or bicycles. Thus, the visitors would feel safer and more comfortable,” stated City Police spokesman, Sr. Comr. Rikwanto, Thursday (8/7).
Moreover, Rikwanto stressed that the police will respond to every action that hinders the effort to sterilize Monas from street vendors and thugs.
Controlling Monas, City Gets Supports from TNI, Police, and Paspampres“If they behave like thugs, or even backing them up, we will take action. If any of those people were members of security forces, they will be submitted to their units to be processed,” he explained.
In addition, Rikwanto told that his party is also suggesting for the entrance gates to be guarded. Thus, the guards can sort which one are visitors and which are street vendors. While to handle illegal parking, the solution is to close certain entrances.
“Just make one entrance in IRTI Monas. So, if visitors parked in other locations, they would not be able to get in. Or, make it conditional if there is an event,” he uttered.
